Manager: Andy Thatcher
“Football has always been my passion. As a parent on the sideline at Bushey & Oxhey FC I decided I wanted to get more involved and, as my playing days are sadly over, becoming a manager was the next best thing! It’s great to be in a position to give something back – helping others, watching the team develop and seeing the boys enjoying themselves every week as they play the beautiful game.
It’s a rewarding role but takes a lot of commitment; early starts, organising, adapting, supporting – and that’s just at the weekend! I also spend time speaking with opposition managers, planning formation rotations, dealing with issues, planning training sessions and general coordination…I’d still recommend getting involved though.
I’d hope the boys (and parents) would describe me as ‘a friendly face that steers us in the right direction and makes our time at B&O enjoyable’. If I could change anything, I would pay the B&O Managers a Premier League Manager’s wage and have the sun shine every weekend!”
